The free help checker

Your answers in the checker stay in your browser. We do not store them or link them to you unless you then send the request form, in which case a short summary of your answers is attached to the request.

The request form

When you send the form we collect your first name, email, optional phone number, state, what you need, your optional note, the page you were on, whether you agreed to calls and texts (and the exact wording you agreed to), the time, and a one-way scrambled version of your IP address used only to stop spam. We store this in our database and email it to our team and to our partner Pack Tax, so they can reply to you. We email you a confirmation.

We never ask for Social Security numbers, tax documents, or bank details. Please do not put them in the note. If a note contains something that looks like a Social Security number, we remove it before storing.

The contact form

When you use the contact form we collect your email, optional name, topic, message, the time and the same scrambled IP address, and email it to our team so we can reply. We do not share contact messages with Pack Tax.

Calls and texts

Pack Tax will call or text you only if you checked the consent box. It is optional, and you can withdraw it at any time by replying STOP to a text or telling Pack Tax.

Who we share with

• Pack Tax, only for requests you send, so they can respond. Pack Tax handles your information under its own privacy policy.
• Service providers that run the site for us: Cloudflare (hosting, security, the Turnstile spam check on our forms, and privacy-friendly visit statistics without cookies), Microsoft Clarity (how visitors use our pages) and Postmark (email delivery).
• Authorities, if the law requires it.

We do not sell your information to data brokers or share it for others' advertising.

Cookies

We do not use advertising cookies. We use Microsoft Clarity to see how visitors use our pages (clicks, scrolling and anonymized session recordings) so we can fix problems and improve the site. Clarity sets cookies and processes this data for us; see the Microsoft Privacy Statement. You can block it by blocking cookies or JavaScript from clarity.ms.

How long we keep it

We keep requests for up to 3 years for records and to handle complaints, then delete them. Ask us to delete yours sooner at any time.

Your choices

To see, correct or delete your information, use our contact form. We reply within 30 days. Residents of states with privacy laws (such as California) have these rights by law; we give them to everyone.

Children

This site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
